2. A Verizon Vision for a Fully Integrated Next Generation Network

Presented by Gaston Ormazabal, Verizon Laboratories.

This session will provide a large service provider’s view of development and deployment plans for new technology in the next year, consisting of an integrated view of technical infrastructure and services using IP technology as the foundation. The realization of this vision presents some remaining obstacles and challenges both at the business layer and the technology layer. The talk will concentrate on the outstanding technology challenges remaining as obstacles to the realization of this vision. At a high level these challenges include scalability and performance, and security issues related to performance, cost and time.
