[SIPForum-techwg] Real Interoperability

Given VERY painful experience with lemonade, speechsc, and SIP:

Interoperability is INVERSELY proportional to the number of MAYs and
SHOULDs.

The most interoperable protocols have only MUSTs.

Every MAY and SHOULD introduces a factor of two in code complexity (in
an ideal world - real world is even more) and a factor of two in
interoperability difficulty.

Please, please, please do your best to limit the number of SHOULDs and
MAYs to a minumum, ideally zero.

[inspired by the TCP/UDP discussion, but not limited to that...]
