[SIPForum-techwg] Focus on simple PSTN?

The abstract of 1.0 states that the goal of the document is to outline
an interface specification that enables direct IP peering between a SSP
and a SIP-enabled Enterprise for PSTN access. Henry challenged that
foundational notion, and I think it important to gain consensus that the
original goal stands or changes.
Should it be the same, then what are the gaps in the current doc? I
don't see Russell's input as a proposal for a new document, but rather
fodder for a compare and contrast exercise.
