            The Impulse to Change

We put up with a lot of inefficiencies in the normal course of
work. Email overload. Document chaos. Constant travel. Lack of alignment.
Slow decision-making. Interruptions upon interruptions. Redundant systems.
Soaring IT and storage costs. Password pandemonium. Fragmented efforts.
Solution fatigue. Silos. We've dealt with these frustrations for so long
they seem normal. But what if we didn't have to accept them? What if there
were ways to tackle these problems?

I'm not going to try to tell you that collaborative technologies
are a silver bullet that will solve all your communication and business
process issues. If there's anything I've learned from this market, it's that
getting collaborative solutions right isn't as easy as throwing some
technology at a problem; in fact, that's a pretty sure way to burn time,
energy and credibility. But the impulse to look at collaboration in one's
organization and to evaluate both technology and process solutions from a
holistic perspective is the impulse that says "there has to be a better
way." Some of us will wait until these new methods are widely proven. Others
have already dipped their toes in the water and are feeling around for the
right platform. Still others have been persistently and adventurously
exploring these waters for a while and are already finding alternatives to
the culture of email clutter and other annoyances we've come to accept.

Disney, State Farm, Fidelity, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nokia,
Johns Hopkins: these are just a few of the organizations who are already
represented on the CTC attendee roster this year. I don't know where along
the spectrum of adoption each of these organizations sits, but I'm looking
forward to June when, along with an impressive line up of speakers, we can
take part in a collective dialogue fueled by that impulse to find a better
way.

            Regards,

            Jennifer
